Meet Laird Brown

Laird Brown started taking pictures with a passion in High School. At Kent State University, he received degrees in both Photojournalism and Journalism. In his Junior year, he created a unique yearbook with a 100-page pull-out section in the style of Life Magazine. He was selected for a summer internship at National Geographic Magazine, which published across two pages a photograph he took on assignment.

Laird went to work at a paper manufacturing company doing employee publications -- photographing and writing stories about and for employees. And there was the occasional PR project. One involved hanging out of a helicopter to get a birds-eye view of a smokestack under construction. This image was picked up by UPI as part of a story on pollution abatement.

Later he moved to another company doing a variety of public relations and marketing assignments. Along the way he earned a Master's Degree in Communication.

In recent years he has spent many hours talking to small business owners and listening to their excitement as they told about creating and building their businesses. He also watched his wife, Kathy, build from scratch her own successful consulting business.

Laird understands that business people are not looking for pretty pictures. They want images which will make their business more successful. He uses his background in photojournalism, public relations and marketing to help clients meet business goals.

Laird approaches a project by, first, finding out what the client is trying to accomplish. Then he creates pictures which will help convey the message, build an image and tell a story.
